The Heritage Collection Moss Agate Penannular Brooch

364.00

By Aileach Moon

With echoes of a distant past this textured penannular brooch adds a richly rooted statement to any wardrobe. Penannular brooches have a long history on these isles. Worn by both men and women, they served as practical objects as well as amulets and luxury accents. Moss Agate is said to be a stone of balance and tranquillity, a stone of abundance often associated with growth and nature. The stone I have used in this brooch is free-form and so totally unique. It is set with an open back so that when held to the light the details inside the stone are visible. Indulge yourself in the elements of the Ancients and adorn your favourite cloth with hand-forged silver.

Ring Sizing

If you are unable to have your ring size measured professionally there are a few ways to try this at home. We can email you a printable ring sizer so you can check the size of a ring that already fits. Just get in touch by email at [email protected]. If you can’t wait for that you can try the method below.

All you need is a piece of non-stretchy paper, a pen and a ruler.

  1. Wrap the piece of paper around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen. You are measuring the circumference of the ring.
  3. Measure the string or piece of paper with a ruler. (mm)
  4. Choose the closest measurement on the ring size chart below to find your ring size.

Please bear the following in mind when choosing a size.

If a ring band is quite wide or broad, rings tends to fit more snugly. There is more metal in contact with the skin and so more friction. Generally speaking the wider the band the tighter the fit so you may need to go up a size.

Be aware of the temperature of your hands when measuring because when your hands are warm they can swell slightly. We recommend you measure your hands when they are both warm and cold to find the perfect size. If you don’t you may find your ring will feel too loose when your hands are cold or too tight when warm.

If your knuckle is a lot larger than the base of your finger measure around your knuckle too and choose a size between these two measurements.

Bracelets, Necklaces and Neck Collars

You’ll need a thin strip of non-stretchy string or paper or a soft seamstress’ measuring tape and a marker to mark where the ends meet. Wrap the tape around your neck or wrist. Make sure it is comfortable and consider the design of the piece for example neck collars are designed to fit more rigidly around the neck. Mark where the paper or tape meets and then measure with a ruler. If you’re still unsure feel free to email [email protected].

Hallmarking

A hallmark is a UK Government seal which certifies the purity of precious metals. It is stamped on jewellery by one of four Assay Offices in the UK.

I am registered at Edinburgh Assay Office. All my pieces are tested and hallmarked so you can be sure you are receiving only the finest of precious metals. My sponsor’s or maker’s mark is also applied by the assay office alongside hallmarking.

All my pieces are marked with the Common Control Mark which allows me to ship to various countries who have in place their own legal requirements regarding the quality of precious metals used in jewellery. Please see the shipping information for further details.

It is a UK legal requirement that online retailers selling precious metal items display the hallmarking notice.
