Handwoven Unique Art piece, hand dyed with tapestry & needle felting details applied.  Dimensions:  30” wide x 65” long displayed on reclaimed bogwood.

Description

This is a unique and bespoke art piece inspired by my daily lockdown walks through my local area, better known as the Mintiagh Glen.  Donnelly’s ram was a regular face on these evening walks, surrounded by nature’s beauty and the vibrant summer sunset.

This art piece was created to celebrate the traditional craft of handweaving in Donegal, a craft that seems to be sadly dying.

The piece is also inspired by the simple life that we embraced during the lockdown; the simple life lived by my grandparents and my great grandparents in an age when this craft was most prominent in daily life.

The materials used are all locally sourced with the local fleece being put through the process of being washed, carded and hand woven on my recently restored 1930’s Donegal Loom (Heena’s Loom).
