Blacksmithing Experience

This immersive experience takes place in my traditional Forge located at the southernmost tip of ancient Inishowen, an just one minute off the world renowned Wild Atlantic Way.

The content covers some of the most fundamental procedures in traditional Blacksmithing. Learn how to properly and safely hammer and shape hot steel into items that will last for centuries. Learn how a traditional fire works and how to quench steel to make it tough and resilient. During this time you will be facilitated in hammering out by hand, one of a number of items you can then take with you as a keepsake.

The options include:

• a simple Celtic broach
• a fireplace poker
• decorative wall hanging hooks
• a simple pendant.

Please let me know in advance if you have a preference for any of the above options.

You will also learn the history of Blacksmithing and some points of physics, engineering and chemistry associated with the Art.

Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dusty or damaged. A break for refreshments will take place midway through the work and learning takes place in a relaxed and person centred environment.
