Enjoy an inspiring visit with Ann McGonigle at Glendowen Craft Studio and discover the timeless craft behind iconic Donegal Tweed.

Ann will share the fascinating story of this traditional textile, guiding you through the process from explaining how the sheep’s wool  is spun to the finishing touches that bring each garment to life. With nearly 30 years of experience in craft design, Ann creates stunning original pieces using the finest Donegal tweed and yarns. She also weaves her own Meentagh Glen Tweed on a beautifully restored antique loom.

During your visit, Ann will demonstrate the traditional weaving process on her 120-year-old restored Donegal hand floor loom, using nothing but Human Power.  Hear how the loom was transported in a sheep trailer to Glendowen Studio and was lovingly restored by Master Weaver John Heena who taught Ann to weave.  You will then be invited   to take part in creating your own small piece of Donegal Tweed  on a   mini loom – a handmade coaster to take home as a special keepsake!
